Do Not Miss Out On The Fun, Street Soccer Starting On Friday

with No Comments

Street Soccer starting this Friday 4-22-22 at Hicks Canyon Soccer Field A.

Orange County United Futbol Club is excited to add a new program, Street Soccer, to our Friday night program this April.

It is time to dust off those cleats, learn some new skills, make new friends and have fun each Friday.

Beginning Friday April 22nd through Friday June 10th we will be doing Street Soccer every Friday night at Hicks Canyon Soccer Field A from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

What is Street Soccer?

  • 5v5
  • Small Sided Games
  • Get More Ball Touches
  • One Person Does Not Dominate Game
  • Focused On Team Play
  • Small Space, Work Together

Street Soccer takes advantage of the benefits in developing players from a young age in a more individualized environment. Ball skills are developed through an increased number of touches during the short-sided game. Players are placed in reduced space situations and are constantly forced to make decisions demanding speed of thought and quick reflexes.

Street Soccer will force players to develop the skills required for tight spaces without the added pressure of being in a team environment. The question became, can we create an environment that can challenge players to be creative in their skills while also challenging them in tight spaces.

The answer is… yes. Soccer experts feel the best way to improve your skills is to play soccer on a smaller pitch. In Brazil most kids play on what is called futebol de salao, which is similar to five-a-side. On a small pitch, you need to have good control and move the ball around quickly. There is not much space, so you need to be skillful.

That is why Brazil always produces players with great ball skill. Let us help your kids improve their skills and enjoy the great game of soccer.

Maddie Newsom, the former four year D1 starter at the University of California, Irvine Women’s team will oversee the Friday Night Futbol and Street Soccer programs. Maddie will be joined by, multiple Irvine Valley College, soccer team players.

Street Soccer focuses on ages seven to twelve year olds (with exceptions).

Parents will be responsible for bathroom breaks.
